A Resting
Sequence
Embodied
time
the tissue
remembers
the sensory
aspects lengthen the minutes
rushing
through the hours
my fingers
are dividing the threads
the
fingertips thinking about
what the
fingertips in centuries
before their
existence
might have
corresponded with
in the
fabric of things
in-between
the loopholes
in-between
productivity and rest
there lies a
time
not quite
sure what to do with itself
not quite
ready to jump on
another
thought, another goal,
another
destination
maybe
dreamtime
maybe just
there is
a fabric
hangs and dries
quietly in
the sun
only the
wind is able to move it
all the
steady movements of
putting the
threads into place
go unnoticed
into the background
what stays
is a moment
a momentum
of wind and
sun and textile
I imagine a
scene
from the
factory days
when people
were having breaks
in the yard.
Chitter
chatter and maybe lunch
packets.
A smoke
until the clock strikes.
Who are the
protagonists in the backyard
now?
Valerian
Thistle
Fleabane
Himalayan
Balsam
(sometimes
the cat, hypnotized by the
valerian)
Red currants
and the sun
– doing it’s dance amongst
the brittle walls
glistening
sunlight and damp shadows
inviting me
for a brief moment
to take a
seat
and taking
it in.
appreciation
for everything what’s going
on here.
bees are
crazy as ever
butterflies
landing on the floor
the wood is
aching
the walls a
breathing
the house
doing it’s best to stand up
straight.
